The destination as content

Partnerships with artists, fashion designers and photographers that turn the destination into content. These are projects that generate image, press and one more reason for a guest to choose that place, and they form the basis of the guest experience work in the properties. Art and design come in as a tool, alongside companies, hotels and regional initiatives in natural building, agroforestry and permaculture.

The Almazônia Expedition is the realisation of a long-held wish by fashion designer Camila Machado, who had always wanted to see the Amazon rainforest. Since her first visit, her connection to the forest has only grown, through the people who live there and seek work that draws its strength from nature.

The project speaks to the need to keep the forest standing, not only to conserve our own species but to sustain our culture and the prosperity of local communities, fostering peace between people and forest.

Amazon Expedition with Vincent Kurt Lo

Vincent Kurt Lo, a biologist and wildlife photographer, carried out a photographic expedition documenting the region's biodiversity. His work focused in particular on observing and recording birds in their natural habitat, contributing to knowledge and conservation of local species.

I am a biologist, I work for an environmental agency, and I like watching and photographing wildlife, mainly birds in the wild.

Amazônia Por Um Fio

Studio Sadalla - Design Week SP / 2021

From the eye of Flávio Sadalla, art director at Studio Sadalla, and with the collaboration of documentary photographer Cristian Dimitrius, came the cultural manifesto "Amazônia por um fio", made during an eight-day expedition through the southern Amazon. The record continues the internationally recognised Neon Mural Art project.

Made up of seven photographs printed and framed by Mercado da Imagem, the show sets out the contrast between the fragility and the strength of one of the world's great natural riches, through the intervention of neon.

It is a creation that makes us think about protecting nature. We see the Amazon as a treasure, yet we treat it as though it mattered less. We need to rethink our positions and our actions.

The collaboration with Joel Reis Tecelagem led to two significant showings: the launch of the "Teares de Minas" collection in Carmo do Rio Claro, Minas Gerais, in 2018, and a place at Mostra Loft Design in São Paulo in 2017, where the collection was presented in a hotel room decorated by the well-known designer João Armentano.

Project with Roberta Asse / 2017-2018

In 2018, the riverside community of Cuiabá Mirim in the northern Pantanal, Pousada Rio Mutum and Colégio Sidarta came together on a project of literature and environmental education. It followed the visit of Colégio Sidarta to the Pantanal in 2017, where the pupils met Daniel, Rosa and the story of the jabiru stork.

To find out the different or similar ways of playing, singing, making and learning, I travelled across Brazil and was received by generous children who taught me so much and gave me the inspiration to invent these stories. It is good to know our country and to be enchanted by it. Here that happens through literature, this human magic that opens the way to the most varied and transforming worlds.
